CONGRATULATIONS TO SINGAPORE'S WOMEN TABLE TENNIS TEAM FOR GETTING INTO THE FINALS!

WELL DONE LI JIAWEI, FENG TIANWEI & WANG YUEGU!


quoted from the previous post 'i will NEVER watch olympics before lecture again'. HAHAHA, well guess what? i did. well, me and lijun did anyway. we sat in front of my tv from 2.30PM to 6.10PM. and what's the best thing? LECTURE WAS AT 6PM. win. but it was really freaking exciting and we couldnt BEAR to leave until we finished watching the entire match.

match one: dang yeseo vs feng tianwei.
it was the first time i watched tianwei play so i didn't know if she was really good. apparently she's ranked 9th in the world while yeseo's ranked 26th. but OMG, she won yeseo 3 sets straight in a row. 11-5, 11-5, 11-2. amazing table tennis player. really. you could tell that by the end of set 2, yeseo had lost her confidence totally and just threw her last set away.

match two: kim kyungah vs li jiawei.
this was the most painful and most exciting one to watch. kyungah won jiawei in the singles for the bronze medal in the last olympics in athens 2004. as we all know, kyungah plays defensively while jiawei always attacks. and today's game is NO different. jiawei's attacks are amazing while kyungah is amazing in defense. as expected, both women had to play a total of 5 sets with kyungah winning the match with 11-9.

match three: kim kyungah & park miyeong vs li jiawei & wang yuegu.
i was so afraid that jiawei would be affected terribly by the previous match that she might not perform in the doubles match. but thank goodness she put the previous match behind her! haha. jiawei and yuegu's teamwork is AWESOME. it's as if they can read each other's mind. really. their smashing attacks together was WOW. haha. no matter how good kyungah and miyeong's defenses were, they wouldn't defend against those scary smashes. the 2 singaporeans won 3 sets in the row with 11-7, 11-6, 11-8.

match four: dang yeseo vs wang yuegu.
after seeing yeseo's performance in the very 1st match, everyone thought 'oh, yuegu's definitely going to thrase yeseo in this match'. well, WRONG. i really salute yeseo for forgetting all about the horrible games she had previously and started afresh. and WOW, her comeback was WONDERFUL. really. she literally thrashed yuegu. winning 3 straight sets.

match five: park miyeong vs feng tianwei.
the ultimate last match to determine which country will enter the finals and battle out for the gold medal against either china or hongkong. there was tremendous amounts of pressure on the youngest players for both teams. i was scared out of my wits too okay. omg. after a while, tianwei started to test miyeong's patience by not attacking at all. miyeong in the end did get a little impatient and made a few mistakes. tianwei was simply too skilled for miyeong. she won the first 2 sets and lost narrowly to miyeong in the 3rd set. the 4th set was obviously the most seat grabbing one. after a while, the umpire decided that as long as tianwei has a 2 point lead over miyeong, they will count it as tianwei has won because the match had overrun by 40 minutes. but miraculously, in the LAST shot, miyeong made a horrible mistake and served OVER the table, causing tianwei to win the set, the match and singapore to make it into the finals! ((:

wahaha. omg i feel like a reporter can. i am amazing. ((:

the commentator was really cute. omg. i love this guy. he's quite obviously pro singapore. coz he kept cheering for us saying things like 'come on, jiawei!' and 'singapore jiayou'! hahaha. and he said stuff like 'i'm sure all the singaporeans are in orchard road watching the match now'. O.O i guess the only place he knows in singapore is orchard road. lol.

lijun and i really went mad during the entire game. we kept cheering cheers from SOW. really. like the trilogy cheer, the super loser cheer, the espion cheers and many others. hahah. and we SCREAMED for joy whenever singapore scores a point. hahaha. it's crazy but it was a hell lot of fun.

I'M SO PROUD OF SINGAPORE! it's been 48 agonizing years since we last got a medal and the women's table tennis team has made our dreams come true!

applause to kim kyungah, park miyeong and dang yeseo too! they were a really worthy opponent to fight against. and i'm definitely cheering them on for the bronze medal! they deserve it big time. especially kyungah and miyeong. they played a hell of a game. ((:
